WHITE ROCK, BC- The H.M.S Pinafore, the Lass that Loved a Sailor. Join the Fraser Valley Gilbert and Sullivan Society on board the British ship HMS Pinafore. The Captain’s daughter, Josephine, is in love with a lower-class sailor, Ralph Rackstraw, although her father intends her to marry Sir Joseph Porter, the First Lord of the Admiralty. She abides by her father’s wishes at first, but Sir Joseph’s advocacy of the equality of humankind encourages Ralph and Josephine to overturn conventional social order. Public mural gets go-ahead for Semiahmoo Arts building

The City of White Rock approves Semiahmoo Arts request for funding to paint a wall mural on the Semiahmoo Arts building located in Centennial Park. Semiahmoo Arts selected Richard Tetrault to paint a mural that celebrates the community’s diversity of arts on the South and East facing walls of the Semiahmoo Arts Building.

Semiahmoo Arts will also work with the artist to coordinate collaborative mural workshops which will involve local artists in designing and drawing the south facing wall mural. “The City of White Rock listened to the comments and suggestions that were provided at our public art forum and we are extremely pleased to support this project,” said Mayor Wayne Baldwin. “The arts preserve unique culture and heritage, spurring innovation and creating cultural character and traditions for future generations.”

The City will financially support the $21,500 project from the Community Public Art Capital Projects Fund. The mural will be completed in time for the Semiahmoo Arts 40th Anniversary celebrations this summer.
